Préface
The 47th Meeting of the Séminaire Lotharingien de Combinatoire took
place from October 7 to October 10, 2001 in the University Centre of
Bertinoro (Italy), located in a medieval hilltop fortress, with a lovely
view down the landscape of Emilia Romagna. The meeting was joint with
the 8th Incontro Italiano di Combinatoria Algebrica.
The main talks were given by Daniele MUNDICI (Università Statale di
Milano, Italy) and Bruno SALVY (INRIA Rocquencourt, France). Both of
them gave three fascinating lectures, on "Combinatorial Fans In Algebra,
Logic And Toric Geometry", and "Combinatorics, Asymptotics and Computer
Algebra", respectively.
