Preface.
On the occasion of the 34th Séminaire Lotharingien de
Combinatoire the fifteen schools of the European Network on
"Algebraic Combinatorics" have participated
in a Rencontre of their network, presented their works and
discussed further collaboration. The fifteen schools include Wien
(Christian Krattenthaler), Berlin (Günter Ziegler), Magdeburg
(Christine Bessenrodt), Copenhagen (Joern Olsson), Bielefeld
(Andreas Dress), Strasbourg (Dominique Foata), Stockholm (Anders
Björner), Erlangen (Volker Strehl), Bayreuth (Adalbert
Kerber), Marne-la-Vallée (Alain Lascoux), Cagliari (Luigi
Cerlienco), Bordeaux (Mireille Bousquet-Melou), Aberystwyth (Alun O.
Morris) and Perugia (Francesco Brenti).
Each school has discussed its recent results in the area of
Algebraic Combinatorics, ranging from the representations of
symmetric groups to the geometry of tiling (see the network's table
for a rapid view at the common interests). The present volume
contains the different contributions of each school.
