Abstract: The talk is devoted to the notion of Rota-Baxter operator (RB-operator). As the derivation operator defined on an algebra generalizes usual differential operator from analysis, so RB-operator (in some sense) generalizes the operator of integration. At first, we study the properties of such operators. At second, we clarify the deep connection between RB-operators and Yang-Baxter equation (from mathematical physics). At third, we consider the relationships between algebras with RB-operators and so called pre- and postalgebras (mostly defined by J.-L. Loday in 1990s and 2000s).
