Title: "Stably finite groups"
Speaker: Federico Berlai
Abstract:
Virili recently proved that, given a noetherian ring \(N\) and a sofic group \(G\), any crossed product \(N*G\) is stably finite. Working on this, we give new examples of groups, not known to be sofic, such that their group algebra is stably finite (with respect to all noetherian rings). Deligne's famous group is among such examples.
In the introductory talk "The space of marked groups" we recall the opportune notions needed for the research talk, mainly speaking about the space of marked groups and crossed products.
