I am a retired professor at the
Fakultät für Mathematik of the
Universität Wien working in
combinatorics and as such a member of the Institut's
combinatorics group. Together with colleagues from the
Vienna University of Technology, we run the joint seminar
Arbeitsgemeinschaft für
Diskrete Mathematik", which takes place every tuesday.

I am a member of the Special Research Programme (SFB) "Random Discrete Structures: Enumeration and Scaling Limits", which joins forces of the Probability and Combinatorics Groups at the Universität Wien, the TU Wien, and the TU Graz,
My research interests are all sort of enumerative combinatorics and algebraic combinatorics. I have strong side interests in (basic) hypergeometric series and number theory.

My interest in (basic) hypergeometric series led me to develop two Mathematica packages, HYP and HYPQ. The package HYP allows you to manipulate and identify binomial series and hypergeometric series, the package HYPQ allows you to manipulate and identify q-binomial series and basic hypergeometric series. Click on it to receive more information and/or download the relevant Mathematica files to your computer. (There is an almost equivalent Maple package by Bruno Gauthier: HYPERG.)
If you need to guess sequences of numbers very often, then my Mathematica "guessing machine" RATE (which has become part of Neil Sloane's Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences) may be useful for you. The Maple implementation by François Béraud and Bruno Gauthier is called GUESS. A Maxima implementation, DEVINE, written by Martin Rubey, is also available. The FriCAS guessing programme Guess (usable also within sagemath), also written by Martin Rubey, is even more powerful as its range of detected formulas is larger.
I am one of the three editors-in-chief of the Séminaire Lotharingien de Combinatoire (you find many papers of the old (printed) issues of the Séminaire Lotharingien de Combinatoire there). I am also editor for Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, aequationes mathematicae, Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science, Combinatorial Theory, Monatshefte für Mathematik, European Journal of Combinatorics, Annales de l’Institut Henri Poincaré D: Combinatorics, Physics and their Interactions and for Combinatorics and Number Theory.
